  1. Well I’ve downloaded the R58 64 and 32 bit builds and tried them on a Dell 6410 and Dell 6420 and wifi will not work on them. I checked the 6410 and the wireless is Broadcom. I’m no expert but I find that odd because wifi works great with some of the older Special builds.

Thanks as always for all your work on this.

      1. Yes the older builds around Version 54 were working fine.
When I check the Bios it just says “Broadcom” for wireless. I don’t know anything more specific unless there’s a command line script that will tell me more.

        1. Odd since its working with my Broadcom devices.

Can you post lspci command output? It sounds like your model may have been dropped from the code base support sadly.

          1. The v58 special build is working. πŸ™‚ Unfortunately I don’t know how to copy and paste from the command shell to here or I would do so.

  2. Tried to run this rev. on my ASUS TP200. After the chromium splash screen it hangs with a dark gray screen and the build number in the upper right corner. No mouse or keyboard working.
Second time I was fast enough to enter console mode but it stalled while typing the user name.

  3. Yoga Pro 2, boots OK, no touchscreen as before with R57 and touchpad (Synaptics) doesn’t recognise clicks just taps
AS1410 with Intel 5100 AGN, no wlan recognised (worked fine in Special R54 / R55).
Easynote Touch boots OK, no touchscreen.

  4. Works about as fine as the previous Enhanced Vanilla release. Acer V5 here, the Nvidia GPU doesn’t work (which is to be expected), but the integrated Intel HD GPU works well.

  5. Hey great build! Installed this on an old ASUS EEE pc x101 and I cannot figure out how to get the touch pad working. I tried the old etc/x11/xorg script but it looks like there is now an x12tpd directory in the /etc folder. Any help on getting the touchpad working?

  6. V58 works fine on my 8 year old Dell Inspiron and 6 month old HP Celeron. Should the “Check for Updates” in settings work? I ran it on V57 but it said it was up to date so did a clean install of V58.

    1. Check for updates will work when I start the dev server. I leave it a few weeks to see if any major bugs are in the build, so I can stop the updates if needed.

      1. Thanks!

Did test install of V57. Clicked on “Check for and apply updates”. Updates found and downloaded. Reboot and V58 runs!

Next time I will not be is such a hurry and wait for an update instead of doing a clean install!

          1. A minor feature I have noticed is that it doesn’t seem to check if you are already running the latest version but just downloads and re installs it.

  7. I have a slight problem which i cant work out.
For some reason i cant get the touchscreen to work unless i have an external monitor plugged into my laptop (HP pro x2) and configured as mirroring. strange??
I remember it working in the past without any problems.
    cloudready works
    windows works
Help! i am at a total loss on how to fix this behaviour.

  8. no trackpad on macbook air 2008 and the broadcom wifi keeps the same old bug, one time works after boot, two times dont

  9. Here’s a quick guide for getting this working on an Acer Cloudbook (N3050). Anyone who has these knows Windows 10 is too much for the machine. This guide works for both 11 and 14″ models.

    1. Boot from the USB that you put this on.
    2. CTRL-ALT-F2, login as chronos.
    3. sudo su
    4. /usr/sbin/chromeos-install –dst /dev/mmcblk0
    5. Reboot, and tap F1 and F2 to get in the BIOS.
    6. Go to security, set supervisor password.
    7. Select an UEFI file as trusted. Browse to Bootx64.efi.
    8. Set supervisor password to blank.
    9. Arrow to exit, save changes.
    10. Go into the BIOS again, then under boot, select EFI boot file 0 and F5 it to the top of the list.

If all went well, you’ve got a Cloudbook Chromebook. Runs SO much better! Everything works flawlessly.

Thanks for a great build, Arnold!!

  10. Hi, Arnold!

Is there any way to preset a login wallpaper? We’re using CrOS Special and Vanilla in a school, and this would be most helpful. πŸ™‚ Any info you could share would be great. I know how to remount the system RW if need be. Thanks in advance!
