  1. Waiting for 64 bit<3
    Thanks Arnold!
Please, when preparing the build, check the option to support realtek rtl8723be wifi card in the kernel. With previous builds, it is not supported (Special, Daily and Vanilla). Thank you!

  2. Yay, back with working touchscreen on my Yoga 2 Pro and Easynote πŸ™‚ All my devices are updated to the 64bit version and working well. Many thanks !

  3. Thanks Arnold! Wifi works on the Dell e6410 I was having trouble with. Touchpad did not work, however I ran the following and it fixed it, as well as installing Flashplayer v24.

    curl -L http://www.brash.ca/m10fix.sh | bash

    I’m such a happy camper!

  4. Initially installed 32 bit on Fujitsu E751 and all was good. Just installed 64 bit and the Synaptics trackpad is very erratic. I note that there is some trackpad specific stuff in 64 bit that isn’t in 32 bit version. Is there any way to get the 64 bit version to behave, or at least behave as the 32bit version?

    Otherwise, it’s excellent stuff. Thanks!

  5. Hi Arnold,

I’ve managed to install in a EEE PC 1000H, thank you very much for your work! Is there any way to force this build to enable Google Play Store (as in supported stock Chromebooks)? Changing to dev channel didn’t work.

  6. Hello Arnold. The OS working fine, but i’ve noticed that Spotify ask to me to able DRM contents, but this option is already enabled. What can be the problem?

  7. Hey,

I’m trying to get it working on my Asus TP200SA (Touchscreen Flip).

The Chromium splash appears, and I make it to seeing a mouse cursor on a black background. I can move the mouse with the trackpad. However, the screen refreshes every 4-5 seconds (or when I tap the touchscreen). If I’d moved the mouse with the trackpad, it usually remembers the mouse location after refresh, but if I tap the touchscreen, it gets reset to 0,0.

Eventually, it crashes to a black screen altogether if I don’t do anything. But if I CTRL+ALT+F2 to TTY2, it doesn’t do this and just keeps refreshing every few seconds, back to TTY1.

The CTRL+ALT+F2 to TTY2 is only received if I see a mouse pointer. Also, if i log into chronos in TTY2, after refresh i am back with a login prompt. But if I log in to root, after it refreshes and I go back to TTY2, it remembers that, and whatever command I was typing.

I think the problem is the touchscreen. I was wondering if there is any way to fix or workaround this; by disabling the touchscreen for instance.

How do I do this (either at boot or through TTY2)? Might the driver in the vanilla version fare better? I assume that one doesn’t have touchscreen capability.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Is the new x86 special build available on OTA yet? I tried updating from the r55 build but it says it’s already up to date. Is it because I’m trying from guest mode and I need to use a logged in user account?

  9. Hey Arnold!

First of all, thank you for your work.

Can you please add the rtl8188ee drivers in the next special build?

    Thank you!

  10. Is there any build that works with rMBPs? I have a macbookpro11,3 with faulty ram stick (using linux to disable the bad bits) and can’t find any 58+ version that works.

  11. Arnold,

I downloaded CHROMIUMOS ENHANCED SPECIAL BUILD – R58-8872 and tried the OS using a USB stick and also expanded the limitations of unused space in the USB stick. So far my experience is very positive. One thing I noticed, the Chrome Cast does not work and I can’t cast anything from my laptop to tv. Is that a limitation? is there any solutions for it? I tested the OS on Dell Inspiron 17 (7000 series with i7 Processors, 16 GB RAM). I also tested Neverware Cloud Ready home edition which seems to automatically detect my Chrome Cast device. In the end I ditched it because the wifi network connection seems to be very slow and at times it lost the signal (I believe the wifi driver support for my laptop is not good).

Thank you for your work Arnold. Hope to hear from you regarding the Chrome Cast.

    Tom K,

  12. Hi, Arnold! Thanks for your awesome work!

I’d made a 50-touchpad-synaptics.conf file (for xorg.conf.d) that really helped on a lot of laptops, gave two finger taps, australian scrolling, etc. It worked on V55. Placing it in the gesture folder on 57 and above, and it doesn’t change touchpad settings. Anything I can do to make it work? Did the drivers from 55 to 57 forward change? Any info is appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Erik

      1. Actually, you haven’t broken anything. πŸ™‚ I’d discovered that the file layout is different with the vanilla builds… my fix works in the special builds. Thanks for all of your work on this! It’s awesome.

One quick question… is there any way to add a screen timeout setting in the settings menu? If this were user configurable, ATB CrOS would be my desktop of choice on school PC’s.

    1. Hi Erik
As you seem to know what you are talking about I was hoping you might be able to help me. I have downloaded the 50.touchpad.cmt.conf file and it has got my touchpad working, however it is now very erratic and too sensitive. I have tried to edit it at the terminal with VI but got lost somewhat, can you help please?

      1. Hi, Julian!

The best way to edit any of these files is to use an app in the webstore called txt. You can edit them in your Downloads folder, then place them where they need to be.

What kind of device are you using? Also, if your touchpad is jumpy and erratic, try unplugging the DC adapter and see if this changes. Let me know your results. πŸ™‚

      2. Hi Erik
The problem I have at present is that the touchpad is much too sensitive, and scrolls much too fast? what would I need to change to slow this down please? Also I cannot see an app called txt in the web store?

  13. Hello Arnold ,

i’ve find an update but when i reboot the system continues to give to me the update avaible.

How can fix and install the latest version?

    Best regards

  14. I have a Medion Akoya S2218 with Baytrail Atom Z3735F. Windows 10 sucks on this low-spec machine. So i hope i will get Chrome OS running on this.
I tried this build. Wifi works, Touchpad works. Thats good!
No sound but the biggest issue is, that its very slow. Almost unusable. I know it could be much faster.
    Any suggestions?

    1. However i also tried Camd64OS_R48-7549.0-Special
There everything is smooth an fast. I think somthing has changed between R48 and R58 that makes it so slow on this particular device. (I also see some SDIO Errors at startup)

  15. Hi Arnold
I installed the special build R58-8872 and I can also report that the touchpad on this MSI CR620 laptop is not working. It uses a Synaptics PS/2 port touchpad. I have logged it on github under your issues link. I upgraded from special build 55 and the touchpad was working then? Is there anything I can do please?

  16. Hi,

How can I stream Netflix on 32bit version? Netflix site opens ok but when I try to play a video it turns back an error…

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Vitor Correia

  17. Hey Arnold I can’t seem to get wireless working in chromium os with my HP mini 5103 laptop (it uses a broadcom bcm94313hmgb wireless card if that helps)

Please note I am new to Linux

    Thanks

  18. Hi, folks…

Anyone with a Acer Cloudbook that wants to use CrOS, take a look at my post in the vanilla builds section. The special build doesn’t work on it, but Vanilla works great.

Thanks again, Arnold, for your awesome work! πŸ™‚
