  1. Hey Arnold, first off, just wanted to thank you for making these awesome builds available. I have several chromebooks, but my favorite has always been the Samsung Series 5 550 which is still my primary device. Google (finally) discontinued updates for it, so I’ve switched to your Chromium builds to stay current. They have worked great so far.

Quick question: I noticed on the last two updates (R64 & 65), I have a minor but odd issue where the fan comes on and won’t shut off. I went back to R62 and the fan works normally. Is there a config file somewhere I could tweak to affect fan behavior? The unit isn’t running hot or anything; the fan just likes staying on in the newer builds.

Also, if anyone else is running on a Samsung and is having issues with a jumpy/overly sensitive touchpad, I figured out the fix. You have to add the 50-touchpad-cmt-lumpy.conf from a regular ChromeOS build to /etc/gesture. I can post the contents of that file if anyone needs it.

    Thanks again!

    1. Thanks for the feedback – good fix for the touchpad!

Re the fans, I would need to compare the lumpy kernel config to the special builds. Ill add it to the list of stuff to fix.

    2. I have the same problems (fan and touchpad) with my samsung 550 (intel i5)…
      Have we got any fix?

    3. I have failed to boot from the provided special-build chromium OS images on my Samsung lumpy — it just refuses with a beep. Is is necessary to replace the firmware with SeaBios or something similar in order to make it work?

  2. Hej Arnold, this is awesome! Can you please tell when the updateserver is up?

Can you also give more details about the playstore why it’s not working and do you see any light at the end of the tunnel so it will work?

    Thank YoU!

  3. Is it possible to using Kiano Slim Stick with Wi-Fi Broadcom 43430v0 ?
Now after the launched OS I don’t see any available networks.

  4. The version 65 works well in USB , but when installed in HD I get Black Screen infinite in boot. Macbook pro 13 Intel HD Graphics (Iris).
BTW, the broadcom wifi driver is not working (it must be blacklisted -modprobe- but then I get black screen ).

  5. hey Arnold i put vanilla chromum on my flash drive to run on my asus 2 in 1 lunched good and set up gmail but when i click on the google play store it ask if i want to update and when i click on it it goes to a black screen and want go any where so i take the flash drive out and restart my laptop and u know in windows 10 the only way to start from flash drive is in settings in windows so i do the same put the flash drive back in and go to where my flash drive is and click it boot’s to chrome screen and then goes black again so what can i do now ?

  6. Hey Arnold, i have a Odys Winbook 14(Celeron N3450, Intel HD Graphics 515, UEFI only BIOS). When i try to boot ChromiumOS form USB i only get a Black Screen with a white non blinking curser. The Stick boots well on other Machines. Is there any way to fix this?

    1. I have similar issue on similarly configured machine Yepo 737A.

What I did is to set OS mode to Linux and choose to boot from USB partition from boot menu.

But I lost keyboard and trackpad, need to use external usb keyboard and mouse to move on

  7. Hi Arnorld, thanks for these awesome builds! I just installed R64 on an Intel NUC D54250WYK which worked great but after updating to R65, sometimes the display doesn’t output a signal to the monitor. After booting and the white Chromium screen flashes up, sometimes the display just reads “no signal”. Also if I log out of a session, the display signal is lost – the monitor never “catches” it. I booted in to Local Image A (R64) and it worked just fine. Just thought I’d let you know. Thanks again!

  8. Hi Arnold,

I have an iMac 5,2 and the 32 bit R60 Special Build works pretty well (with an Ethernet connection).

The more recent 64 bit builds get as far as the ChromiumOS logo and stop, which I think often points to a driver issue. In theory I should be able to run 64 bit (it works with CloudReady). Is it possible that R60 32 bit has a driver that 64 bit builds lack? (I guess I should test with 64bit R60)

    1. Update: I submitted a ticket in GitHub. The problem isn’t 64-bit; probably it’s kernel 4.14 as you mention in Issue #152.

  9. Hi
I’ve followed all the instructions and booted from an USB. But when I want to install to HD, to the instruction “cromeos-install –dst /dev/sda” it says “Error: src and dst are the same: /dev/sda = /dev/sda”.

    What am I doing wrong?

  10. Hi,
thanks for taking the time to make this available to us (in our case, schools)!
I’ve been working with R65 Vanilla and Special builds. Have been trying to install on HP ProBook 6560b. Special goes black right after the Chromium image. Vanilla goes through, but at enterprise enrollment (ctrl-alt-e) and entering my admin account, I get a ‘Oops! The system failed to establish the device installation-time attributes lock’. I have set the correct timezone before doing that (and the time looks correct). Also I’ve purchased a Google Chrome license for device management (since that’s the reason I’m attempting this: managing these school devices remotely).
    Any help is appreciated.

      1. Hi,
I know this comment is old, but I am having the exact same issue on my Surface Pro 3. How do i go about clearing the TPM from within chromium? Microsoft doesn’t let you do it via the BIOS for security.

  11. Hi Arnold,
